Need to Know: Obey God
Parents, you can talk about these questions to dig in to what your child learned this week:
- What are some positive things you experience when you choose to obey God in the way you treat others?
- Can you think of a situation when you haven’t obeyed God in the past?
- How would you handle that situation if you could go back in time and
This was our final week of Dr. Tock's Traveling Clock. We had so much fun! In this series, we looked at the life of Joseph, and we talked a lot about action-based principles...do what's right, love being kind, live humbly, obey God. All of those things are good, and they are what God wants. However, those things don't just happen. We are not naturally inclined to do the right thing or to love being kind to others. In fact, we are usually inclined to the opposite.
We need to have these real conversations with our kids about how it doesn't come easy and about how we get to these places of obedience to what God has called us to do. So you might be thinking, how do we get here? Two of the main ways are 1) Bible Study and 2) Prayer. When we truly begin to know God and hear His voice, our actions change to look more like Him. He captures our hearts. So encourage your child to read his or her Bible. Pray with and for him. Talk to her about God. God's love has the power to change our hearts, our minds, our actions. So let's lead our children to Him.
