Acts Chapter 6

Acts chapter 6 shows us that we are called to serve if we are part of the church body.

In chapter 6 we see a problem arise in the church. The Greek-speaking members of the church feel that their widows are not being cared for like the Hebrew members. Problems like this can often tear apart a church.

But as we see, the Apostles addressed the problem, and the members in the congregation stepped up to meet the need! A healthy church finds qualified people to help share the work

Read: Acts 6:1-7

1. Have you ever served in the church? If yes where, if no why not?

2. Do you know what strengths you have? How can you use your strengths to serve the Lord?

3. When we serve Jesus, that tends to lead us to serve people who don't deserve it. Instead of focusing on their attitude, what should our focus be on?

4. Do you find yourself only serving people who can repay the favor?

There is a difference between volunteering and serving:

Volunteering- How can I help you out?
Serving- How can I help you in?

Volunteering- Is there anything I need to do?
Serving- Is there anything I can do to help?

Volunteering- Obligation based on the Need
Serving- Privilege based on the Heart

5. Are you a volunteer or a servant? Which one do you think God wants?

6. What is one way you are going to serve the Lord this week?
