Acts Chapter 8

Acts chapter 8 tells us about Phillip. How he boldly proclaimed the Gospel and how it was accepted.

We see two different stories of Phillip, one where he is preaching and Simon the magician claims to accept the Gospel. We see that Simon wanted the gifts and blessings of Jesus, more than he wanted Jesus

We also see an Ethiopian eunuch who is seeking God. Reading the prophet Isaiah he becomes confused, and Phillip can explain the Gospel.

Both instances show how Phillip was sensitive to the Spirit's promptings and how Phillip was on a mission to let people know about Jesus.

Read: Acts 8:1-25

1. In verses 1-4, persecution hit the church. Have you ever experienced persecution for your faith? Were you able to stay bold despite the persecution?

2. Phillip preached to the Samaritans, the enemies of the Jews. Do you love your enemies? What have you done to prove your love for your enemies?

3. Simon is described twice as being great. He was a good person that everyone liked. When people look at your life do they see a good person, or someone trying to please and follow God?

4. Do you love Jesus? Or do you want the blessings He can give?

5. Simon found out we must change to follow Jesus. What things need to change in your life so you can follow Jesus?

Read: Acts 8:26-40

6. Phillip was sensitive to the Holy Spirit's promptings. Would you consider yourself sensitive to the Spirit?

7. What did Phillip do when the Ethiopian eunuch had questions? How can you do this for other people?

8. The eunuch responded to the Gospel. Do you give people a chance to respond when you share with them? Why is a time of response so important?

9. What things do you need to do today to start living like Phillip?
